I've heard that cursive is going to be phased out around here too. I'm torn. I love the look. I love letters and cards in the mail that are written in cursive, how often does that really happen though? But my own writing and cursive? Atrocious. We shall see what happens in the next while at school. Good luck to the girls! Your cursive is lovely!
I absolutely LOVE this post, Wendy. Love it.I love cursive too! And I noticed at Open House that they have cursive charts up in the older classrooms. Yay! I use a hybrid to write as well. Printing takes me forever and looks sloppy and cursive takes me forever to have it be legible. I sign my name in cursive though.
i love it!! Kahlin's been learning cursive since first grade, and she looooooves it. she thinks it's the fanciest, coolest thing ever. and it makes me happy too. my handwriting is kind of a mix, though closer to cursive than printing.
I teach second grade and still teach cursive. The kids can't wait to learn it!
I absolutely LOVED this post. I love handwriting and fonts so much.I learned D'Nealian when I was a kid (I can't believe I remembered that). It was essentially in between basic printing and cursive. Then I switched schools and went to a basic printing classroom - eek. I loved the flowy-ness of D'Nealian. My handwriting, like yours, is a hybrid of print and cursive. My signature is, as well.I'm so glad your girls will be learning it this year!
First off, can I just say that I love how you wrote this post!!! VERY clever and fun :-)I have a hybrid as well, but think cursive is important. Glad they are keeping it in your kids school!
