Happy ValenTIME's Day, as my girls call it. {I don't correct them, it's too cute!!}
I kinda got myself into crafting trouble because I decided about three weeks ago that I was going to make crocheted hearts for each kid in the girls' class. That's close to 60 kids! It all turned out well but man oh man I was sweating it getting it done!
I used my crochet heart pattern {that I blogged about last month!} and whipped up the hearts. Of course I waited until the last minute to finish them. I was up burning the midnight oil this week getting them all stitched up. The hearts themselves don't take that long - I timed myself! I could make one in about two and a half minutes. Times that by 60 and interruptions and needed snack breaks and we're talking hours of stitching!
The girls were getting anxious that I wouldn't finish them in time, but I did! Each boy got a card with a heart lapel pin and each girl got a card with a heart bobby pin.
My crafty friend Jalal made up the cards. She hand-carved the arrow stamp and added another piece to stick the pins and the bobby pins through. She did such a stellar job!
My workshop late last evening.
I hot-glued a felt pad to each back before gluing on the pin or bobby pin.
We had to do cards for Girl Scouts too, so those cards are pink with a bit of sparkle on the ends of the arrows.
I'm very happy with how they all came out and the girls were very excited to hand them out to their classmates. I even made extra! Because I finished everything early last night, and by early, I mean by 10 p.m., I decided to make a dozen extra hearts for my husband to take to school to hand out to the girls in his special education class. He said they were a big hit!
Happy Valentime's Day! Hug your loved ones!
