Happy Birthday Arlene & Lydia

Our dearest, dearest sweeties,

Today is your birthday!  You are six years old, and that's a big deal!  Six!  We kissed you goodnight last night and you were five. Today, you're six!

Today, we're having a birthday party and our theme is candy and cupcakes. We had so much fun making up the decorations!  You chose candy and cupcakes as your theme because one, candy is awesome and two, you came up with some good ideas for decorations!  You are Mommy's crafty little duo, her little sidekicks. We made a candy shop and we stocked it full of all sorts of goodies.

You know that you are special little girls and that you're loved very much. We tell you so every single day. Because we mean it, and you know it!  You're so special to both your mommy and your daddy.  We can't love you enough!  Kisses and hugs!

We were very very happy on the day that we got married but did you know that the happiest day in our whole entire lives, besides the day we got married, was the day that you were born?  We both remember it very, very well.  Mommy wanted to have you be born in October because October is a very nice month. On October 1, we went to the hospital and you were ready to be born, the doctor said, it's time!  You were born October 2, such a good day to be born!  So many people came to see you in the hospital while we were there because you are loved by a lot of people. And you're twins!  That's pretty special too.

Dearest Lydia, do you know how special you are?  You are such a sweet, caring little girl, Lydia. You love everyone very deeply and you want to always be sure that people are okay. You're very kind to your sister and because you are a whole minute older, you're her older sister, and you protect her. When you cross the road to get onto the school bus in the morning you hold your sister's hand. That is such a sweet, sweet thing to do.  You're so very smart too!  You love to read and you're getting really good at it. You know lots of words already. You enjoy school a lot. You always ask us in the evenings, "Is tomorrow a school day?"  If it's Friday, and we tell you no, then you're disappointed because you will miss your friends and your teacher. You're a very hard worker too. You love to help out around the house and we love giving you responsibilities because you can do them very well. You're best job is getting a trash bag out of the pantry and putting it in the trash can. You're very willing to help out more too!  You're really good at fetching stuff for Mommy and Daddy, which helps us out so much!  You're very quick with your wit and you like to kid around. You tease your Mommy and Daddy and you're pretty convincing sometimes.

Lydia, you're just like your Daddy. You are both hams. You and your Daddy love to crack jokes and sing conversations to each other.  Sometimes you do things and Mommy rolls her eyes, looks at Daddy - and we both know ... Lydia is her Daddy's girl. It's so endearing and so, so sweet.

Dearest Arlene, do you know how special you are?  You're such a sweet, creative little girl. You're a ball of energy and you're a total silly pants. You have a free spirit and not much bothers you. Well, the dark bothers you, you're afraid of the dark. And also Michael Myers bothers you, but honestly, Michael Myers is scary and he bothers a lot of people so we don't blame you. You love holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. You spend a lot of play time playing pretend, setting up scenes and story lines that are really elaborate and involved. You are very good at coloring and you love to make things. You're very social too, everyone is your friend. You love camping and you love to be outside, running and skipping around. When you're particularly excited about something, you hop and skip and jump around. Your feet barely even touch the ground. You have a bit of a stubborn streak in you, but it's okay, in fact, sometimes it's kind of funny. You are set in your ways and want to do things your way. You love school and your favorite part of school is painting and computer time. You want to be in cheerleading and you've learned some cheers from a school friend that is in cheerleading. We promise to find a cheerleading class for you to join.
Arlene, you're one funny girl. You make us laugh. The way you say things - or get the instant sillies out of nowhere - is just awesome. You are your own free spirit. You want to be crafty like your Mommy. We can already see it. You watch Mommy making stuff and you imitate her. It's so cute.

Girls, you're both growing up so fast. We cannot believe that you're six already. We don't want you to grow up. But we can't wait to see what the coming years will bring. Arlene, you want to open your own coffee shop/ice cream shop/craft store. Lydia, you'll be caring for people, no doubt. Or animals. You've told us that you'd like to be a veterinarian and we know you'd be very good at it.

Time has gone by way too fast these past six years! It's because we have so much fun. When you're having fun, time go by really quickly. You are the brightest, shining stars in the sky, and you make our hearts complete. We are so proud of you both. We are so very happy to be your Mommy and Daddy.

We love you and we wish you the very happiest of birthdays!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

We went to the park last week and Mommy took some pictures of you!
